Piles Treatment & Surgery

Minimally invasive and laser-assisted piles treatment in Ludhiana — less pain, day-care discharge and complete confidentiality.

Piles (Haemorrhoids)

What is piles?

Piles (haemorrhoids) are swollen blood vessels in and around the anal canal. They are extremely common — most adults experience them at some point — and range from mild itching and occasional bleeding (Grade 1–2) to prolapsing lumps that need surgical treatment (Grade 3–4).

Piles are treatable at every stage. The earlier you come in, the more likely you can avoid surgery altogether.

  • ✓ Low-fibre diet and inadequate water intake

Diagnosis

How is it diagnosed?

Diagnosis is made by a simple, private clinical examination, sometimes with a proctoscopy — a quick, well-tolerated inspection of the anal canal. Because rectal bleeding can occasionally signal other conditions, our surgeons examine carefully rather than assuming every bleed is piles. Any additional tests are explained before they are done.

Treatment Options

Your treatment options, honestly explained

Non-surgical management

Grade 1–2 piles usually respond to dietary change (fibre, fluids), stool softeners, prescribed ointments and toilet-habit correction. We always start conservatively where it is safe to do so, and most early piles never need an operation.

Surgical treatment at Bawa Hospital

For Grade 3–4 piles, recurrent bleeding or prolapse, we offer minimally invasive options including laser-assisted procedures, stapled haemorrhoidopexy (MIPH) and conventional haemorrhoidectomy where it gives the most durable result. Most patients are treated as day-care or one-night admissions and walk comfortably the same day.

We recommend surgery only when it is genuinely the best option for you — and explain why, in plain language, before you decide.

Recovery

What recovery looks like

Day 0

Procedure done under short anaesthesia; most patients walk and eat the same day.

Day 1–3

Mild discomfort managed with medication and sitz baths; most routine activity resumes.

Week 1

Desk work usually possible; avoid heavy lifting and straining.

Week 2–4

Full recovery for most patients, with a follow-up visit to confirm healing.

Timelines are typical for uncomplicated cases — your surgeon will give you a personalised plan.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is piles surgery painful?

Modern minimally invasive and laser-assisted techniques cause far less pain than older open surgery. You are asleep or fully numbed during the procedure, and post-operative discomfort is managed with simple medication and sitz baths. Most patients are surprised how manageable it is.

Can piles be cured without surgery?

Yes — most Grade 1–2 piles settle with fibre, fluids, ointments and habit changes. Surgery is reserved for advanced grades, persistent bleeding or prolapse. Our surgeons will honestly tell you if you do not need an operation.

Will piles come back after treatment?

Recurrence after a properly performed procedure is uncommon, and maintaining a high-fibre diet, good hydration and healthy toilet habits keeps the risk low. We coach every patient on prevention before discharge.

How long do I need to stay in hospital?

Most piles procedures at Bawa Hospital are day-care — you go home the same evening or after one night, depending on the technique and your overall health.

Is the consultation confidential?

Completely. Piles are among the most common conditions we treat, and our proctology consultations are private, respectful and judgement-free.
